Here is how donation-based counseling works
Client Donations for Counseling Services
To receive counseling through Abba Counseling Services, we usually request a donation. Counseling services are typically provided on a weekly or biweekly basis. At Abba Counseling Services, we request a monthly donation based on income. If you have insurance, Ken has a private practice Trajectory Counseling LLC that does accept insurance. You can go to www.trajectorycounseling.com
How we determine you donation amount
We may request a copy of a paystub or if not working we will request documents showing low income such as a gas or electric bill if possible. (see donate now page for details.)

This is the process we use prior to therapy to get started.

To receive counseling through Abba Counseling Services, you will need to call 330-794-5010. Please leave your name and number and Ken will get back to you during normal business hours. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT SPACE IS LIMITED AND KEN DOES NOT KEEP A WAITING LIST.
Initial Appointment (Intake Assessment)
At the initial intake appointment you will complete diagnostic screens if you are coming for mental health counseling. Please feel free to download the PDF for Informed Consents.
Recommendations:
I will discuss any recommendations and schedule therapy sessions at this time If you are appropriate for counseling services. If not we will provide you with referrals or a different level of care. See our list for what we do NOT treat.
Counseling Therapies
We use, Bible-based Christian counseling and cognitive-behavioral, dialectical behavioral therapy when applicable to help our clients. Typical counseling sessions are 45-60 minutes at Ken's home office. I may offered telehealth however that is on a case by case basis.
What We Treat
As a therapist, I am ethically required to only treat disorders and conditions that I have specific training for. Due to this, I may not be able to provide you with the care you require. If not, I will provide you with referrals.
Mental Health Disorders
Depression, anxiety, suicidality, non-suicidal self-injury, PTSD and other trauma related disorders, ADHD, Phobias, OCD, personality related problems and disorders.
Relationship Problems
Brief relationship counseling skill building, family counseling, using relationship skills . We do not do long term marriage or long term couples counseling. (We do not see couples with court cases).
Spiritual Problems
Abba Counseling Services provides individual and family counseling from a Christian perspective, incorporating biblical values and prayer during the sessions along with CBT and DBT interventions and techniques when applicable.
What we Do NOT treat due to lack of training and competency...
Any severe and persistent mental disorders that are not being treated and medicated and prescribed by a psychiatrist. We do not treat autistic spectrum disorders, eating disorders, assessments for marijuana card or support animal evaluations. We do not do traditional couples counseling. We do not treat anyone under 18 yrs of age accept in certain cases.

We provide income-driven, donation based counseling to people without insurance or inability to pay and provide international outreach to motherless/fatherless children and destitute individuals nationally and internationally.
